"Water War" by John McPhee starts off with a vast description of the Eastern Nevada Valleys. Throughout the article McPhee tends to continually explain the "saturated valleys and the landscape in which there is nothing taller than a "bunchgrass" and to move the water hundreds of miles for the city’s use. By doing this move, it would turn the landscape into a real desert etc where ecosystems are being flourished. McPhee once again, goes into great detail with using descriptive words to describe things throughout the article. John McPhee unravels the reason behind the description of the desert; he explains to his readers that that Las Vegas wants this "fossil" water. He tells the reader that even though Las Vegas is relatively far away from the underground water, money can buy anything. Readers see how society is changing Las Vegas and the natural landscape by creating amusement and water parks and man -made lacks for tourist attractions.
I personally enjoyed reading this article for that was a lot of imagery. He discusses the problem that had occurred Las Vegas, and how it continually keeps happening. -- Kayla Lawrence
